Global Warming is Not a Myth

Plummeting IT energy costs, lengthening life of hardware and decreasing carbon emissions are but a few of the factors contributing to green computing in diverse institutions and commercial organisations. It is clear that global warming is neither a myth nor something to come in the future; we experience it every day. However, understanding what global warming is important to substantiate the argument in this context. It is popular public knowledge that global warming is the most important problem which majority contribute to; nevertheless it is not clearly known what or who contributes the most part. Again, environmental issues such as deforestation, ozone depletion, global warming, and mercury poisoning are matters of concern on the international agenda (Norcliffe 23). Global warming is caused when greenhouse gases, released from burning fossil fuels and land filled waste sites, trap heat within the atmosphere, and this results in drying of rivers and lakes, rise in sea levels, and crops dry up because of lack of rain (Ranawat 29).

Global warming blamed for environmental interference

Global warming has been identified to be a threat to society, and it is caused by human activities resulting to emission of greenhouse gases like; CO2 from burning of fossil fuels, smoke emitted by motor vehicles and industrial activities. Numerous debates have emerged to form a scientific consensus on the negative effect of globalization and technology to the world, while other sources of climate knowledge has established reports on the same issue. However, many people are not fully aware of overwhelming effects of global warming and technology to the world. In fact, the blame lies with industries that have been developing misguiding information concerning global warming and technology (Swift 234).

The construction of several companies in light of increasing globalisation and development use fuel to run their operations. These engines emit a lot of carbon to the atmosphere hence polluting the environment around urban areas. Since the environment cannot be controlled, air flows everywhere hence leading to transfer of these poisonous gases to other parts of Indonesia including rural areas neighbouring urban areas. Therefore, efforts to ensure the environment is protected are brought down by the fact that developments are coming up so fast that the pace at which efforts to control the environment are applied.

These industries produce goods with chemicals dangerous to the environment hence leading to situations where after disposal of such products, they affect the environment in a great way. This means that some chemicals produced by these companies are not supposed to be disposed of carelessly in the event they are carelessly disposed of they react with the ozone layer leading to global warming.

One causes of global warming is the anthropogenic emission due to increased human activities, thus leading to increased environmental problems facing the planet. However, not all emissions are attributed to global warming, thus the dimensions of environmental perspective are focused on warming of the climate for certain emissions. CO2 is one of the emissions has a harmful impact on the environment, since it causes damages to the Ozone layer in the atmosphere (Swift 241). Global warming is an issue that has been established through the contribution of people from different counties, while the effects of global warming will be felt in all the counties, in the world. Therefore, the entire world’s population has contributed to problems caused by global warming, though some of the countries are more vulnerable to the adverse effects than others.

There is a pattern that can be identified easily in the economically developed counties that have contributed more through the emission of large amounts of anthropogenic emissions, from their industrial activities to individual activities. Therefore, for the last centuries after modernization, the world is continuing to contribute to global warming. In the developed countries are is a high capacity to shift ways of mitigating global warming through reduction of harmful technologies, and establishing ways for adapting to the global warming by creating easy accessibility of required resources for adaptation.

For instance, BHP-Billiton is a company that has passed through the test of time; this support is from the fact that the mining industry has faced numerous challenges, and impacts of government and environmental bodies that have greatly influenced the performance of any mining industry. BHP-Billiton being the largest worldwide mining company has faced, to a higher degree, bigger challenges, restriction and brushed shoulders with governments as they have been undertake they main businesses operation over the years. BHP-Billiton will be marked in history because of its outstanding decision to strategically take the initiative to adopt a policy in an attempt to reduce the high carbon fuel emissions, that have over the recent past degraded the environment and contributed to global warming (Walker and Howard 2002).

Global warming in reality with technology

Changes in technology are becoming increasingly progressive due to the rise in human power to control and manipulate nature and environment. However, there are regulations that encourage awareness of changes that occur in the world due to manipulation of environment. Moreover, the Modern West societies have been focusing on exerting control over the world, thus leading to the elimination of American Natives ideas by Europeans. Therefore, the control through technology is ambiguous, and it is also characterized by the imposition of human will to control nature.

People have not managed to gain full control over nature, though the control is comprehensive. An exemplary example of control is the creation of a dam by blocking a river in order to apply technology in production of hydropower. The project is substantial for facilitating the human activities, but there are negative effects to the environment associated with the project. People have not gained ample ideas in to identify the destructive nature of control over nature; thus they are still actively continuing in their pursuit to advance the technology, hence negative effects are still expected to increase in the future.

The speculations that people will be destroyed by products of technological development are reasonable, but there are no possibilities of freeing people from their destiny. There are wars that are aimed at bringing the technological advancement to an end, since the knowledge that is attained through dynamism remains with human beings. Therefore, with time there will be insignificant rebuilding of complexity that has been destroyed through advancement in technology. Moreover, people are not hesitant in repetition of their mistakes though human beings learn much from their experience.

In the countries where there are wealthy people, contribution to global warming is more than the capacity of withstanding adverse impact caused by effects of global warming. There are other poor countries with less contribution to the global warming, but they are subject to suffering the same effects of global warming, and they are more vulnerable to negative effects of global warming. Therefore, the largest population in the world affected by global warming is in developing countries.

There are two main sets of issue that are raised by the problem of global warming from a perspective of environmental law this issues include; different capacities of responding to problem of global warming, and different contribution to global warming. Therefore, issue of global warming can also be attributed to creating differential treatment existing between people from developing and developed countries. The discrimination will continue on the basis of global warming in the future, though there are initiatives focused on promoting equity between the north and south division. Lack of equity results to reduced effort towards dealing with the problem of the global environment that is being faced by all human beings.

Technological development has led to substantial amounts of displacement and misery to human beings, whereby the changes are worse than death. The technological advancement has been causing disorientation to human beings, leading to more misery than it aims to alleviate. However, changes are moving to a balance with beneficial outcome when changes are in routine and assumptions are made for settling a relative way of life. Rapid technological advancement becomes increasingly unambiguous for people who are dependent to the traditional way of life. Nevertheless, there are culminations of human perfection in instances where people are satisfied with the level of development.

This paper submits to the admission that global warming is not a myth as indicated by illustrations above. It is clear that even today we face the menaces of global warming. Blankets getting depleted day by day as temperatures rise. Some leading economies like Japan have a big burden of reducing the heat energy in the country. However, environmental global changes do not just point to global warming rather other indirect and direct factors that lead to climate change. As such, the fact that global warming might be a myth carries some weight, which might need to be justified.

The problem of global warming can be dealt with through application of technology in adapting to ways, which reduce emissions of greenhouse gases through human activities. Greenhouse gases are the prime contributors of the global warming; thus people should focus on changing their activities to be environmentally friendly. The other issue that is related to problems resulting from advancement in technology can be reduced, through ensuring that people are engaging in technology that improves the lives of human beings, and not promoting environmental pollution.
