The pre- communist Russia was characterized by poverty and famine.  It grew extremely both politically and economically. In 1917, the Czar administration was overthrown by Stalin. Soviet Union was formed. The leadership instituted a centralized economic planning. State controlled the production targets and production outputs. Agriculture was nationalized and housing improved. Industry, transport, economy and education were also developed under the administration of Stalin.

Physical environment of Russia is very impressive. It is basically divided into three regions. The poor soil cuts through the forest of North Moscow and St Petersburg. There is also the larger growing season soil. This is the acidic soil that affects farm inputs. Grassland and fertile soil exist. This is the major producer of grains, sugar and meat. The environment is an important asset because it builds the economy. At the same time, it is a liability because the cold weather is detrimental to life and agriculture.

During colonization, Russia grew politically and economically. The natural environment contributed to a tremendous expansion. Major rivers like Ussuri and Amar provided productive valley. Mixed cropping and livestock were harvested and sold. The Trans- Siberian Rail was very instrumental. It connected many industrial cities where the agricultural products were sold. The politicians used the river and enabled the rail link to facilitate economic growth in Russia.

The principal objectives Soviet were centralization and expansion. All the decisions were made from one point. They also expanded the towns, industries and transport. These were achieved by the control of migration and social realism. The Soviet promoted movement of people to cites and limited population levels and regulated the movement of people.

Environmental issues in Russia include pollution and nuclear threat. Air pollution is caused by industries, urbanization and careless mining. Water pollution is also a major concern. This is due to industrial waste, raw sewerage, oil spills and pulp wastes. Nuclear has been a threat to Russian environment. The presence of nuclear reactors and plants where radioactive materials are emitted poses danger to life.

Organized crime has become a serious problem in Russia. This is because of ethnic tensions which arouse due to scramble for resources. Emergence of Russian Mafia has complicated the issue further. The group engages in gambling and money laundering.

Chaos exists in Russia. This is either politically, socially or economically. It is due to central government policy where people have no autonomy. Another contributing factor is the failure of the government to deal with ethnic tensions. For example, the Russian Mafia controls 40% of private economy, 60% of public enterprises and 80 % of the banking industry.

Communism cannot tolerate middleclass but capitalism requires it. This because the two words are different. Communist is a form of governance where everything is communally owned. In this case there is no middle class as everyone owns all. On the contrary, capitalist is a method of rule where private people are allowed to own enterprises. In this regard, classes emerge and this explains why capitalism requires middle class.

Privatization did not help the economy of Russia. This is because the individuals who were operating the businesses were charging very high prices. The private businessmen were exploiting the citizens because there were no legal regulations to control the economy. In comparison to Rockefeller and Vanderbilt who charged fair prices and had good policies.

Critical Analysis of Russia

The article describes the alarming population decrease in Russia 15 years after the fall of Soviet Union. Healthcare is described as the major cause of many deaths. It is hinted in the writing that the former government had proper medicare but after they were ousted, the situation began to worsen. The Story of Mikhail Lychmanyuk in Karabash forms the basis of this discussion. We analyze the causes of poor health care and the measures that have been taken.

Privatization of healthcare was the major cause of death in Russia. The Russia government sold the main medical providers to individuals who had interests. This was the genesis of trouble to the citizens. Healthcare organizations charged very high prices in the hospitals. Besides, many people could not afford healthcare. Like, Mikhail they would simply wait to die due to poverty. This indeed is an alarming situation especially in Russia.

Pollution was also another cause of death in the nation. Urbanization and industrialization in Russia contributed to massive air contamination. Water was polluted by sewerage and careless mining. This resulted to the loss of newly born babies. Many people also died from alcohol, cigarettes and stress arising from poverty and expensive healthcare in the republic. This clearly shows that the government was corrupt and neglected its people.

It is worth to note that the Russian government stepped in though very late. President Putin was prompted to act when he got the alarming news from the Scientific Center of Children’s Health. A policy was instituted to prioritize on healthcare in the state. At the same time the government allocated funds to boost health care delivery. This included construction public hospitals. He also introduced health subsidy for children and pregnant mothers.

Conclusion

Health care is very essential for human life. Several organizations provide health facilities. The mainly supplied by the public assisted by private groups. It is necessary that patients get high quality medicare in order to shield the patients from unscrupulous medical professionals. This has been achieved by the establishment of ethical and legal ideas through the government and international bodies. The concepts are meant to monitor and regulate the operations of health care organizations. Poor healthcare was indeed a threat to life. But the state saved the situation.
