Influential pioneers ought to be visionaries who are versatile and can rouse others towards an aggregate objective. Managers carry out financial planning, while leaders set the way and direction for success achievement. Managers additionally carry out staffing, organizing, controlling, critical thinking, and conceiving powerful activities. Leadership, on the contrary, is spurring and inspiring individuals to complete significant activities. Administration depends on influence rather than control.
Nursing managers ensure the safety of patients by collaborating with other staff members in hospitals. Nursing leaders, on the contrary, must meet hierarchical objectives. Not all pioneers show a similar administration qualities. Authority style influences the whole unit, including representative confidence, and eventually can affect the nature of patient care. Different working environments have various types of leadership styles. The leadership styles include autocratic, democratic, transactional, transformational, and Laissez-Faire. The autocratic leadership style involves the leaders making their decisions without consulting the others. This form of leadership believes in the saying that Knowledge is power. Most leaders embracing this type of leadership believe that they gain power by withholding information from the others. Autocratic leadership is practiced in countries like Korea.
Democratic leadership involves leaders involving the whole team in the decision-making process. In this type of leadership, leaders consult the members then make the final decision. Including employees in the decision making of a firm makes them feel wanted and improves their morale. The involvement results in increased employee performance.
Laissez-Faire form of leadership is practiced in cases where the workers are highly motivated thus requiring no supervision. In this case, leaders set objectives and workers do whatever they want as long as they meet the goals. In this form of leadership, workers mostly work from home because the system is flexible.
Transactional leadership is a kind of administration where Supervisors get certain undertakings to perform and give prizes or discipline to colleagues in light of execution results. As a future leader, I support the democratic style of leadership, where the leader initiates the employees into making a decision with him. I believe that every person has the right to give their views about anything in the society. By involving the employees, their morale rises because they feel appreciated. I would strongly advocate for the democratic leadership style.
Each leadership style has its positive side and problems as well. The autocratic leadership is strongly detected in areas where the workers are creative and work in groups. Creative workers hate when their leaders act as dictators and firmly refuse this form of leadership. Giving the workers a lot of freedom is also not healthy. The democratic form of leadership faces challenges when they have to make a decision in a short period. Involving the workers slows down the process of decision making. The LaisseFaire leadership style may also result to low production due to lack of supervision especially for workers that require adequate supervision.
Challenges observed within the various leadership styles can be solved through appropriate strategies. Workers working under autocratic leadership should understand that the autocratic leaders only want success for their selves and never take it personal when the manager speaks rudely to them. Alternative methods should be analyzed in cases of democratic leadership where decision requires a short period. Leaders in Democratic populations should enact laws that support a change in worker involvement especially when decisions are needed for short periods.
A good leader should inspire and motivate the others towards the attainment of a common goal. Effective nursing leadership ensures that nurses work together to achieve a common goal of ensuring that the sick are well-taken care in hospitals. Leadership, however, differs in various ways. There is autocratic, democratic, laissez-Faire, transactional and transformational. The autocratic leadership involves the leaders making the decisions alone without the assistance of anyone. The democratic form of leadership allows employees to contribute to the decision-making process. The democratic systems motivate the employees and give them the sense that they are wanted thus improving their performance. In the Laissez-Faire leadership strategy, the workers receive a lot of motivation thus requiring no supervision. The transactional form of leadership is where the leader set goals and awards those that meet the objectives and at the same time disciplines those who do not meet the goals. Transactional leadership involves the leaders carrying out the heavy tasks while the workers carry out the small tasks. As a future leader, I highly support democratic leadership because workers can give out their ideas yet it is the leader who makes the final decision. The various leadership strategies are faced with various challenges such as slow decision-making processes in autocratic and low production in Laissez-Faire in cases when supervision is required.
I would recommend that leaders analyze the type of workers they have before choosing the forms of leadership. If workers can work without supervision, the leader can choose Laissez-Faire, but if it is not the case, the leader should avoid Laissez-Faire. Additionally, I would recommend that workers understand autocratic leaders and not take it personal when they get rude. Most disagreements take place when workers take it personal when their autocratic leaders are rude or when they dictate. Finally, I would recommend alternatives for democratic leadership when decisions are needed for short periods.
